Hey there
Bit of an odd one this, but I want to get a tattoo that says "Ukrainian" in the cyrillic (gonna have the tryzub tied in behind it).

My Mum's a fluent speaker but her written is a little rusty and my Nan's true peasant stock and can only read and write a little (though obviously she has no problems talking going by her endless phone calls Smile

I was just wondering if someone could help me with the definitive way of writing Ukrainian in the cyrillic (as in "I am...") as we're going around in circles as to how it should be spelt in that context...need to make sure it's right as there's nothing more embarrassing than finding out your tattoo's grammatically incorrect Smile

Thanks very much

Matt

The correct spelling and writing for "I am Ukrainian" in Ukrainian language is "ß Óêðà¿íåöü"...You can also write: "ß íå ìîñêàëü"!

Thanks so much for getting back to me, I really appreciate it! Relieved you came back with that answer too, as the Óêðà¿íåöü spelling is the one I initially gave my brother and he's already started designing around it (and would possibly whack me if I told him he had to start over Smile
Just one final question, would it still be acceptable to write it without the ß before it for tattoo purposes, or would it read a bit weirdly then (as in just Óêðà¿íåöü rather than ß Óêðà¿íåöü).

Thanks hugely again.

Yes, you may just write "Óêðà¿íåöü" this is already a matter of taste and available "real estate space" on your body. I guess it is similar if you would write "an American" or just "American". I think if you write just "Óêðà¿íåöü" it probably will look even cooler than "ß Óêðà¿íåöü"...
